Two Day Bladesmithing Course

* If booking as a gift for somebody, select "gift certificate" as an option and leave a note with the name of the person receiving the gift. I will send a digital gift card. Once the gift is received we can arrange a date that suits

Over the two days we will learn lots of the basics involved in forging and finishing a kitchen knife.
 
We will start the course with a brief OHS overview and tool safety so everyone feels comfortable in the space we are in.
Then go into the design aspects and use of materials before starting to forge your own blade.
After forging we will go through the necessary steps to normalise and harden the steel to stay sharp.
We will then begin grinding and perfecting the edge on the blade as well as think about handle design and materials.
Once the blade has been finished, sanded and textured we can proceed to fit the handle.
After handle shaping and sanding we are ready to finish, clean and sharpen your own kitchen knife to take home.
 
During the forging it can become rather warm but we will take our time and go at your pace to ensure everything is done right and in a safe way.
 
 
Starting Time: 730am-4pm both days. If you need to start at a later time please contact me.
 
Included in the Course: Tuition, materials, use of tools and instructions, safety overview, workshop consumables, PPE and photos/videos if you wish.
 
Things to Bring: Enclosed footwear, lunch (water will be provided), long pants if weather permits.
